



Umrah on Behalf is performed for individuals who are unable to undertake the journey themselves.
This may include:
Through this act, the spiritual reward of Umrah is intended for the person on whose behalf it is performed, reflecting care, remembrance, and responsibility toward others.
Umrah on Behalf (or Umrah al-Badal) is the performance of Umrah for another person who is unable to do so themselves. This may be carried out on behalf of someone who is elderly, ill, or has passed away, with the intention of fulfilling the act for them.
In Islam, Umrah on Behalf is permitted when the person being represented is unable to undertake the journey. The one performing the Umrah carries out the rites with the niyyah (intention) that the reward is for the individual being represented.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was asked about performing Hajj and Umrah on behalf of another and said:
“Perform Hajj and Umrah on behalf of your father.”
